A-D strips represent a simple & safe method for detecting, measuring, and recording the severity of "vinegar syndrome" in your acetate film collections. Vinegar syndrome is a slow form of chemical deterioration which causes the film to shrink, buckle, and emit a strong vinegar odor. A-D strips are acid-based indicator papers which change color in the presence of the acid vapor given off by degrading film. This provides an objective way to document the extent of vinegar syndrome and helps to decide when acetate cinema film. microfilm, or pictorial film needs to be duplicated.

Each package includes 250 detector strips (1 ½ x 3/8), one color-reference pencil, and complete instructions.
