Kodak Molecular Sieve

Kodak Molecular Sieve is an acid scavenger that helps extend the storage life and improve dye stability of films by retarding unwanted vinegar syndrome reactions. Place the Molecular Sieve evenly around the outer circumference of the film reel, then place inside a polyethylene plastic bag folded inside a clean and rust free canister. If you choose not use a polyethylene plastic bag, you can seal the canister with moisture proof tape.

Each packet contains 12.5g of desiccant contained within a Tyvek™ packet. The packets come in strips of six and can be cut down with scissors to individual packets as needed. The packets are sized for 35mm films but can be folded in half lengthwise when used with 16mm films.

The chart below specifies the number of packets needed for the different roll sizes

(in general, three packs per 1,000 linear feet of 35 mm film is recommended):

65/70 mm film type - 2000 ft. roll size - 12 packets
65/70 mm film type - 1000 ft. roll size - 6 packets
35 mm film type - 2000 ft. roll size - 6 packets
35 mm film type - 1000 ft. roll size - 3 packets
16 mm film type - 2000 ft. roll size - 3 packets
16 mm film type - 1000 ft. roll size - 2 packets
